Rate limits and quotas

Two independent limits: requests per minute, and documents per month.

How they differ

Rate limit — requests per minute, set by your plan. Exceeding it returns 429 rate_limit.
Monthly quota — documents per calendar month. Exceeding it returns 429 quota_exceeded.
Quota is checked before processing, including for the whole of a batch upload.
A re-uploaded identical file reuses the earlier reading but still counts toward your monthly documents. Re-scanning an existing document does not count again.

Back off exponentially on rate_limit. For quota_exceeded, retrying will not help — upgrade the plan or wait for the monthly reset.
